A one day course learning the fundamentals of sharpening green woodworking tools.

There is no better way to get in touch with the heritage of Sheffield and its great tradition of steel blade making than learning to sharpen your own tools effectively.

Did you know that many tools are sold blunt?

Spend the day learning a number of techniques using various sharpening equipment for green woodworking tools, i.e. axes, drawknives, billhooks, turning tools, chisels, slashers in the lovely surroundings of Ecclesall Woods.

If you have tools which are giving you problems – bring them along for Dave to look over – he will either help you get them sharp or advise you what to do. (Please restrict to 2/3 tools as you will only realistically have time to work on a couple of tools)

You will need to wear suitable clothing and footwear for working outdoors in this season. Steel toe cap boots would be advantageous if you have them.
