A two day course where you will learn the basics of splitting and shaping greenwood to make a range of kitchen utensils including rolling pins, spurtles (stick for stirring your porridge!), spatulas and chopping boards. Using various tools including knives and small axes, this highly rewarding greenwood craft is suitable for complete novices and those with experience.

Useful and beautiful kitchen utensils must be supremely functional, hygienic and fit comfortably in the hand. What better way to ensure all three criteria than to make your own.

The course introduces students to greenwood craft and the basic skill required to make and take away a range of items which may include a rolling pin, spurtle, spatulas and a chopping board.

This course covers:

  • Health and Safety in the craft area
  • Timber selection and evaluation
  • Tool selection and use
  • Wood design
  • Pole Lathe turning
  • Surface treatment and finishing

All materials and tool use are provided for you on the day. Refreshments and biscuits throughout the course. Please bring a packed lunch, notebook and pen and wear suitable clothes for working outdoors.

Refundable up to two weeks prior to course (minus £30 admin fee). No refunds for cancellations within two weeks of course.
