This one day course will introduce you to the basics of Blacksmithing and hand forge work.

Starting with fire control and hand hammer work, you will learn carbon steel forging and make small objects such as a poker or hook, you will leave with an authentically hand forged object.

Forges are hot and can be noisy- eye & ear protection will be provided and please wear solid boots and clothes suitable for working in (made of natural fibres).  Forges can be smoky, if you have any respiratory ailments please bear this in mind.

Participants must be fit and agile enough to stand all day by the forges, wield a hammer multiple times and be outside in the weather at this time of year.

Please let us know if you have any specific requirements or needs. All materials and tool use are provided for you on the day. Refreshments and biscuits throughout the course. Please bring a packed lunch, notebook and pen and wear suitable clothes for working outdoors.

Refundable up to two weeks prior to course (minus £30 admin fee). No refunds for cancellations within two weeks of course. All adult courses are for 18 years or over.
