Tree and woodland identification talk and walk
26th June 2014 12:30pm – 4:00pm FREE
NOTE: Although this is a free course, to process your booking through PAYPAL a nominal amount of £1 is required which will be refunded on the day of the course.
This is a free opportunity to discover more about our local woodland trees. The walk aims to give participants the knowledge and techniques required to identify and record a wide variety of tree species in a given location.
For this walk, we've chosen the woodlands of Ecclesall Woods. Please meet us at 12:15pm
ready for a 12;30 start at the JG Graves Woodland Discovery Centre off Abbey Lane,
Sheffield S7 2QZ
Complete beginners are welcome - several of us know very little,
some of us know quite a bit and we're all keen to learn.
If you have any books or
guides that might help give us a key to tree identification, please bring what you
can easily carry.
Photographers are welcome - we are always looking to add to our
list of identified trees and hope you'll contribute a few of the pictures you take
if you wish.
The Tree Walk is intended to last around 3 hours (this is flexible).
If it rains too much we will head for the Discovery Centre and use leaves and small
branches (and what we can see out of the window) to focus on what is around us.
Arrive: for a 12:30 prompt start
Depart: after the talk finishes at 4pm
