Introduction to Wood Carving for Kids (The wood carving course is suitable for kids 8yrs+) - £35
Wednesday 19th August 2015 - 10:00am - 3.00pm
Woodcarving for kids. Learn to safely use a knife, drawknife and shavehorse to create traditional wooden crafts. We will create either a bullroarer or spatula with a drawknife on the shavehorse and learn safe knife whittling techniques and make a letter opener or tent peg. We will also create a gypsy rose on the shavehorse, this can also be used as a very effective kindling.
Students will learn a wide variety of carving techniques using different tools safely and create wooden crafts to take home with them.
All courses are run in a friendly and relaxed environment at Ecclesall woods by Nadine Grundy, who has been qualified in teaching art and crafts in schools and workshops for thirteen years and is also a forest school instructor.
